The dry dock is taking shape

January 27, 2026

The work on the new dry dock in Skála is going as planned. Recently, work has focused on a temporary dam designed to ensure that construction can take place in dry conditions.

The dam is made of sheet piling and filled with 20,000 tonnes of sand, which the company Sandship has transported to the site.

The new dock will be 150 metres long, 33 metres wide, and 12 metres deep.
