Cruise guests going local in Funningur
The expedition cruise ship Ocean Adventurer anchored outside the village Funningur last night and this morning the passengers were tendered ashore in zodiacs.
Together with the locals, the Port of Runavík and Visit Runavík the guests received a warm welcome on the small harbour.
This is the first time that a cruise ship calls Funningur. The locals have been looking forward to this visit and preparing special local experiences, amongst other a guided mountain hike, village strolls, local café, souvenir shop, historical exhibition, Faroese chain dance and hymn singing in the church. All prepared by the local people in Funningur with good help from Visit Runavík and the Port of Runavík. Our friendly Ask Me Staff assisted the guests in any way possible.
We wish Ocean Adventurer, its crew, staff and passengers good luck on their further voyage to Jan Mayen.
