King's Harbour - the Cruise Port of Runavík
The Port of Runavík is situated in the heart of Faroe Islands in the southern part of the island Eysturoy. Eysturoy is connected via subsea tunnels to Norðuroyggjar (20 minutes from Runavík to Klaksvík) and to Tórshavn (12 minutes from Runavík to Tórshavn).
Cruise ships dock at King's Harbour, quaysides 2, 3 and 4. The total length of the quaysides is 567 m with water depths from 5 - 12 m (of which 321 m have a depth of 12 m). The port offers good reception facilities at the cruise port with tourist information booth and guidance. Restrooms, taxies and free Wi-Fi is provided at the tourist information in the town center, only 400 m distance from King's Harbour.
The Runavík area is one of the main locations for shopping, and you will find everything from small shops to large supermarkets. The Port of Runavík provides free shuttle buses on request, while the ship's in port. The friendly Ask Me-staff is ready to help guide passengers in the right direction.
Since 2012, the Port of Runavík, has been marketing Runavík as a cruise destination at international seatrades in Europe and the US. The Port of Runavík works in close cooperation with the town, tourist information, suppliers and shops in order to make cruise guests feel as welcome as possible. The port organizes a welcoming event, free of charge, and invites all passengers and crew together with local inhabitants to traditional Faroese chain dance in the center of the town.
The Port of Runavík is a member of the European cruise association Cruise Europe counting more than 140 ports and destination members.
King's Harbour is a natural harbour and has always been considered being the best and safest location on the islands to moor. History tells us that both the King of Denmark and even earlier the vikings used this harbour, because it was the safest in the Faroe Islands.
