The cruise expedition ship Spitsbergen returns to the small village Elduvík in the Norhtern part of Eysturoy on Wednesday next week. The ship will anchor outside the village and the passengers will come ashore with tender boats. Arrival 8:00 and departure for Iceland at 23:59.
Elduvík is ready to welcome both passengers and crew together with Visit Runavík and the Port of Runavík. The locals offer several experiences e.g. art exhibition in the old school, church visit, organ concert, home café, guided stroll through the village, selfie competion and hiking tours with local farmers.
Spitsbergen has visited Elduvík before but never on a scheduled call, only as an alternative option to Mykines. This time it is different, the call is scheduled and the local inhabitants of Elduvík have planned the visit together with Visit Runavík and the Port of Runavík.
Spitsbergen is 100 m long and onboard there are 159 passengers from Norway, Germany, France, UK and USA. The ship is owned by Hurtigruten and its agent in the Faroe Islands is Faroe Ship.
