Runavik launched its website – www.portofrunavik.fo – in March as part of a new drive to attract cruiseships.
The port in the Faroe Islands has had 20 calls since 2005, including Amadea last year, and is keen to welcome more.
“We have now made a business plan. We have strategic planning and goals. We are working on marketing material, the web page and brochures,” explained Rannva Troest, marketing coordinator Port of Runavik.
There are two quays in the city centre: one of 100m and one of 270m in length with a maximum draught of 12m. The mooring facilities are such that there is no limit to the length. The anchorage is the “best in the North Atlantic because there is no tide in the fjord” according to harbour master Torbjorn Jacobsen.
